Program Objectives: Preparing emerging artists for the industry.
History: Founded in 1906, Valdosta State University is located 18 miles north of the Florida Border on I75. VSU Theatre & Dance produces 5 productions annually, performance based scholarship fundraisers. The program places equal emphasis on the academic coursework and the production season. Students, upon completion of specific prerequisites, may apply to take creative/design roles and crew supervisory positions. Valdosta State University produces Peach State Summer Theatre, Georgia's Official Musical Theatre. VSU students may audition and interview for positions along with other emerging artists and professionals from across the country.
Facilities, Classrooms, and Theatres: An intimate proscenium theatre, lab theatre, onsite scene and costume shops, computer labs, dance studios, traditional classrooms. New Theatre Facility is in the final planning stages. Anticipated move-in Spring 2025.
Scholarships and/or Assistantships: Incentive Scholarships may be available. We also offer Assistantships in such areas a scenic/carpentry, lighting, sound, props/paints, costume construction, hair & makeup, front of house & social media.
