Program Objectives: In SCAD production studios and theaters, acting students perform in sitcoms, films, plays, musicals, TV shows, and immersive themed experiences, or find jobs in professional productions via the SCAD Casting Office. Through it all, students are led by professors with impressive credentials — accomplished actors, directors, and casting directors at major studios and networks — and connect with iconic Hollywood stars at SCAD signature events celebrating the best of film and television.
History: SCAD was legally incorporated in the state of Georgia Sept. 29, 1978. SCAD prepares talented students for creative professions through engaged teaching and learning in a positively oriented university environment.
Facilities, Classrooms, and Theatres: SCAD is one university — offering degrees in Atlanta and Savannah, Georgia, and online via SCADnow, with additional study abroad opportunities in Lacoste, France and other locations. The largest and most comprehensive university film studio complex in the U.S., Savannah Film Studios encompasses a next-generation mixed reality LED volume stage, a Hollywood-style film backlot, and leading-edge production spaces for student and professional filmmakers to shoot their most ambitious film projects. Theatres at SCAD-Savannah include the historic Lucas Theatre, Trustees Theatre, a renovated silver-screen and a black box theatre. SCAD-Atlanta boasts two new theaters — a 700-seat mainstage and an intimate 150-seat black box theater.
Scholarships and/or Assistantships: Merit-based scholarships are available for both U.S. and non-U.S. citizens and are awarded to entering students prior to first-quarter attendance. Undergraduate students who wish to be considered for achievement scholarships must provide additional materials as part of their application for admission.
