Program Objectives: At the undergraduate level, the Department of Theatre & Dance offers a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Theatre and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Dance. The theatre degree features five designated concentrations for in-depth coursework in: Acting, Musical Theatre, Design/Technical, Directing and Pre-Teaching. The five concentrations share a core curriculum of theatre arts courses while allowing students to extend study in their specific field of interest. Undergraduate students from other majors may also share in our interdisciplinary activities by auditioning for a minor in theatre or dance.
History: The College of Performing Arts’ Department of Theatre and Dance is committed to experimentation and collaboration with a curriculum that creates informed, well-rounded artists, performers, designers and technicians who make creative and connected choices. Our multidisciplinary program led by faculty that maintain professional artistic careers in the tri-state area. These connections help the department provide students and graduates with a smooth transition into the professional world.
Facilities, Classrooms, and Theatres: 2 full theaters, blackbox, multiple classroom studios
Scholarships and/or Assistantships: Significant talent scholarships, out of state scholarships and merit scholarships available. Ranging from 1/4 to full tuition for all 4 years.
