Program Objectives: We are a community of artists and scholars who believe in the collaborative exploration of the human spirit through the study, practice, and celebration of theatre and dance. We strive for excellence and expect excellence of our students as they train, study, and practice to become skilled and inspired artists. We are also firmly committed to encouraging and celebrating diversity in our community.
History: Theatre has been an integral part of the FAU experience since its founding in 1964 and that tradition continues today. We endeavor to look at our students as individuals. As such, we will consider your individual aspirations and goals as we help you become the best artist you can be. 
Facilities, Classrooms, and Theatres: The Department of Theatre and Dance is located in the South Florida region in a vibrant and active theatre and film community. The department produces 4-5 shows per year in the academic unit, two shows through the Summer Repertory Theatre Program, and offers professional opportunities with Theater LAB. The department produces through our four theatre spaces, including a newly renovated 500 seat proscenium theatre, our 150-seat black box theatre, and two smaller 80 seat black box theatres. 
Scholarships and/or Assistantships: The Department of Theatre & Dance has numerous merit and need based scholarships available for students. They are awarded on a yearly basis, and are generally awarded at the end of each Fall term.
