Program Objectives: 1) To educate and prepare Theatre students to transfer to 4-year BA and BFA programs in Theatre. 2) To educate future Theatre audiences.
History: Selena Ambush took the position of Director of Theatre in January of 2023. Prior to that, Jeanine Henry was Director of Theatre for approximately a decade. Under Professor Henry, the department developed into an active State College Theatre Department offering two productions every school year, fostering a student-run Theatre Club and offering a range of Theatre Courses for those interested in the Arts as well as aspiring Theatre majors. Under both Professor Henry and Professor Ambush, the EFSC Theatre Department has received several Superiors for production from the FCSAA Theatre Division.
Facilities, Classrooms, and Theatres: Facilities within the Simpkins Fine and Performing Arts Center: 1) Scenic shop 2) Dressing Rooms 3) Choral Room 4) Several music practice rooms Classrooms: Both of the theater paces serve as classrooms as well as other traditional classroom spaces within the Simpkins Center. Theaters: 1) Mainstage Theater 2) Studio Theatre
Scholarships and/or Assistantships: The Jack Carroll Scholarship serves approximately 12 students per school year.
